Last Saturday our Senior Women went down to The Tideway to take part in Women’s Eights Head of the River Race (WeHoRR). With beautiful conditions, our Women’s 8 set off 147th hungry to improve upon last year's result of 164th.

A strong start to the race lead to the women over taking Bridgenorth Rowing Club before they reached the iconic Barnes Bridge. Coming through the middle section of the course the crew had found their rhythm and were responding to every call made by their cox for the day, Jade Smith.

As they approached Hammersmith Bridge the women’s bow ball overlapped the stern of Furnival Sculling Club, a call for a power ten allowed the girls to move swiftly past the crew. As they approached the final 500m the women took the rate up for a final push to the finish, over taking Maidstone Invicta Rowing Club A with only a few meters to go.

This resulted in them finishing in 144th with a time of 21.17.2, an improvement of 20 places on last year.
